Ola Electric has reduced the price of its Roadster X 9.1 kWh electric motorcycle by ₹60,000.
The price has gone down from ₹1,89,999 to ₹1,29,999. This is a big change, and I think it is great news for anyone who was thinking of buying this electric bike.
The main reason for this price cut is Ola’s own battery cell, called the Bharat Cell. Ola makes this battery at its own factory in Tamil Nadu.
As the factory started making more batteries, the cost of making each battery went down. Ola then passed these savings on to the customer.
The company has officially announced this on X, stating, “Make the switch to petrol-free riding. Roadster X+ (9.1 kWh) now at ₹1,29,999.”

What is Ola’s Bharat Cell?
The Bharat Cell is a battery cell that Ola Electric designed and made in India. It is used inside the Roadster X battery pack.
Most other EV companies buy their battery cells from other countries like China or South Korea. Ola decided to make its own cells in India instead.
When a factory makes more products, the cost per product goes down.
This is what happened with the Bharat Cell.
As Ola made more cells, the cost came down, and now the bike is cheaper for buyers.
The short answer is: Ola’s homegrown 4680 Bharat Cell is working exactly as intended.
For context, the 4680 cell is the cylindrical battery format that Ola Electric has been developing and manufacturing in-house at its Gigafactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu.
The company calls it the Bharat Cell, indigenously engineered, indigenously produced — and it sits at the core of the Roadster X’s 9.1 kWh battery pack.
When Ola first started talking about building its own cells, a lot of people were sceptical.
Battery manufacturing is extraordinarily capital-intensive and technically demanding; it’s the kind of thing that even established global players struggle to get right.
But Ola electric has been quietly ramping up cell production, and as output volumes have climbed, the cost per cell has dropped meaningfully.
That’s basic manufacturing economics, economies of scale, but it’s rare to see an Indian startup execute it this cleanly and then actually pass the savings on to the customer rather than quietly padding margins.
What Do You Get at ₹1,29,999?
The good news is that nothing has been removed from the bike.
You still get the same Roadster X with the same 9.1 kWh battery, same motor, and same features.
Only the price has changed, and it has gone down a lot.
| Spec | Details |
|---|---|
| Battery | 9.1 kWh Bharat Cell |
| Old Price | ₹1,89,999 |
| New Price | ₹1,29,999 |
| Price Cut | ₹60,000 |
| Factory | Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu |
Why This Matters
I feel this is not just about one price cut. It shows that making batteries in India is actually working.
If Ola keeps growing its factory, prices could go even lower in the future. That would be good for all EV buyers in India.

At ₹1,29,999, the Roadster X is now much easier to consider. It is the same bike – just at a price that makes a lot more sense.
