Kinetic Watts & Volts (KWV), the electric mobility arm of Kinetic Engineering, has entered into a technology partnership with Jio Things, a subsidiary of Jio Platforms, to introduce connected and voice-enabled features across its upcoming electric two-wheeler range.
The collaboration will see Jio’s Internet of Things (IoT) platform integrated into future Kinetic EV models, bringing features such as voice assistance, smart digital instrument clusters, and real-time vehicle connectivity to mass-market electric scooters.
What the Partnership Brings to Kinetic EVs
Under the agreement, KWV plans to embed Jio Things’ connected vehicle ecosystem into all its new EV launches. The focus is on improving everyday usability rather than adding premium-only features.
Key capabilities expected to roll out include:
-
Voice-based vehicle interaction aimed at hands-free operation
-
Smart digital clusters with real-time ride and vehicle data
-
Connected features for performance monitoring and diagnostics
-
Telematics and cloud-based analytics, especially relevant for fleet use
These features will be powered by Jio Things’ end-to-end IoT stack, which includes connectivity, cloud infrastructure, device management, and aftermarket support.
Why This Matters for the EV Two-Wheeler Market
Connected features have largely been limited to higher-priced electric scooters in India. By integrating Jio’s IoT platform across its portfolio, Kinetic Watts & Volts is positioning itself to make connected EV technology more accessible, particularly for everyday riders and commercial fleet operators.
For fleet customers, the addition of telematics and analytics could help with:
For individual riders, features like voice assistance and real-time diagnostics are expected to improve convenience and safety.
Company Perspective

Ajinkya Firodia, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Kinetic Watts & Volts, said the partnership aligns with Kinetic’s long-standing approach of simplifying mobility for Indian users. He noted that the company’s focus is on making technology intuitive and practical, extending its “Easy” design philosophy into the digital experience.
From Jio Platforms’ side, Ashish Lodha, President, said the collaboration reflects Jio’s broader goal of building a connected automotive ecosystem in India, with two-wheelers being a key segment for mass adoption.
A Strategic Shift Toward Intelligent Mobility
The partnership comes at a time when India’s electric two-wheeler market is becoming increasingly competitive, with manufacturers looking beyond range and pricing to differentiate on software, connectivity, and user experience.
By combining Kinetic’s manufacturing and engineering capabilities with Jio’s digital infrastructure, the two companies aim to:
-
Make connected EVs more mainstream
-
Improve safety and reliability through real-time data
-
Reduce connectivity issues via integrated platforms
-
Support fleet operators with actionable analytics
Building on a Legacy, Looking Ahead
Kinetic’s move into connected EVs builds on the group’s five-decade legacy in two-wheelers, which includes well-known models such as the Luna and DX. For KWV, the integration of IoT and voice-led systems signals a shift toward positioning itself as a technology-led EV manufacturer, rather than just a hardware-focused one.
With this partnership, Kinetic Watts & Volts becomes among the early players aiming to offer voice-assisted, connected electric scooters at scale, a move that could influence how Indian riders interact with their vehicles in the coming years.
