India’s electric mobility push received a major boost as Atul Auto and Exponent Energy announced a strategic partnership to roll out rapid-charging electric passenger three-wheelers. The collaboration includes a commitment to deploy at least 15,000 vehicles over the next three years, marking one of the largest expansions of fast-charging EVs in this segment.
A Big Leap for Electric 3-Wheelers
The partnership brings together Atul Auto’s manufacturing expertise and Exponent Energy’s fast-charging technology. The upcoming electric three-wheelers will be powered by Exponent’s OTO platform, a fully integrated system combining battery packs, powertrain components, and vehicle software.
Initially tested through retrofit deployments, the platform will now be integrated directly into new OEM vehicles, enabling a more seamless and scalable rollout.
15-Minute Charging, Greater Efficiency for EV
A key highlight of this collaboration is Exponent’s proprietary rapid-charging system, capable of delivering a full charge in just 15 minutes—among the fastest globally for commercial EVs.
The system is designed to support intensive daily usage and comes with a 2 lakh km warranty, addressing common concerns around battery life, reliability, and resale value.
For drivers and fleet operators, this translates into:
- Reduced downtime due to ultra-fast charging
- Higher daily vehicle utilization
- Lower operating costs compared to conventional EVs
- Greater flexibility with charging options
Notably, while the vehicles will be compatible with Exponent’s fast-charging network, they will also support standard public and home charging infrastructure, offering added convenience.
Financing and Ownership Support
To further accelerate adoption, Exponent Energy will leverage its newly launched EV financing platform, Exponent One, led by Sandeep Divakaran. The platform will offer:
- Embedded insurance
- Structured buyback options
- Flexible financing solutions
These measures aim to make EV ownership more accessible, especially for commercial operators.
Leadership Insights

Arun Vinayak, CEO and Founder of Exponent Energy, highlighted the broader vision behind the collaboration, stating that combining rapid charging, financing, and vehicle platform technology is key to overcoming barriers to EV adoption.
Neeraj Chandra, Managing Director of Atul Auto, emphasised that the partnership strengthens the company’s electric portfolio while delivering enhanced value to customers through advanced technology and improved performance.
Strengthening India’s EV Ecosystem
This collaboration signals a strong push toward electrification in India’s commercial vehicle sector—particularly the passenger three-wheeler segment, which plays a critical role in urban mobility.
By combining manufacturing scale with cutting-edge charging infrastructure, Atul Auto and Exponent Energy aim to make electric three-wheelers not just viable—but the preferred choice for operators.
