Geely makes pre-order offer for its new, low cost EX2 electric hatchback

China car giant Geely last December confirmed that its best-selling electric car, the low-cost Geely EX2 electric hatchback, is headed for the Australian market.

Now, the company has confirmed early specs and a pre-order offer on the EX2 as part of the Melbourne Motor Show offer which starts today.

According to the brand, any Geely EX2 hatch pre-ordered online through the Geely Auto Australia website or from dealerships nationwide from Friday 10 April to Sunday 12 April and delivered before 30 September will include a free charger and free premium paint.

Six colours will be available to local buyers. These include standard colour White and premium paints such as Green, Grey, Beige, Pink, and Silver.

Standard specs for the Australian delivered Geely EX2 will include:

  • Rear-wheel drive platform with additional frunk storage
  • Multi-link independent rear suspension
  • GEA platform, allowing smarter optimisation of space
  • Liquid-cooled battery pack

The EX2 is currently available as the Geely Xingyuan in the Chinese market and is built on the same Global Intelligent Electric Architecture (GEA) platform as Geely’s popular EX5 electric SUV, which has sold over 5,000 units locally since arriving in March 2025.

The EX2 is expected to pack a great value electric option with a price likely to be set around $30,000, or less.

It comes in at around 4.14 metres in length, which is similar to other electric hatchbacks in the Australian market, like the BYD Dolphin and the MG4.

In December 2025, the car was launched in Thailand with two variants, the Pro and the Max trims.

Both variants in Thailand come with a larger 40.16 kWh CATL-supplied Lithium-Iron-Phosphate (LFP) battery pack, which can deliver a range of 395 km. This is likely to be closer to 320 km on the locally used WLTP cycle.

The EX2 has an 85 kW rear-mounted motor for the Thai-bound variants, which can accelerate from 0-50 km/h in just 3.9 seconds.

Inside, this model has one of the largest infotainment screens in its class, thanks to a 14.6-inch screen. That’s a similar software system to the one found in the locally delivered Geely EX5 SUV.

Geely originally launched the EX2 as Geome Xingyuan in China during the third quarter of 2024 and in 2025 was the county’s best selling car.

This model would make a great car for so many looking to get behind the wheel of an EV with elevated fuel prices.

Details on the powertrain specs and pricing will be confirmed closer to the hatchbacks launch in Q3.
