Škoda has unveiled the first public glimpse of the new Škoda Epiq, a compact electric crossover that aims to bring affordable electric mobility to urban drivers. The camouflaged prototype was spotted on the streets of Porto, Portugal, where the city’s colourful backdrop underscored the model’s playful, agile character. Škoda positions the Epiq as a production-ready contender in the urban crossover segment, with pricing in many markets expected to sit close to that of the combustion‑engine Kamiq.
Under its disguise, the Epiq reveals an evolution of Škoda’s Modern Solid design language. The front end is dominated by a pronounced “Volcano line” and oval air inlets in the bumper, while active air flaps are tucked away to improve aerodynamics. Škoda engineers report a drag coefficient of cx = 0.275, aided by specially designed wheels offered in 17‑ to 19‑inch sizes that help manage airflow around the body.
Lighting and grille treatments reinforce the model’ s contemporary look. The Tech‑Deck Face grille is flanked by new T‑shaped headlights, with LED units standard and optional Matrix LED headlights offering 12 segments for glare‑free illumination. Inside, the Modern Solid ethos continues with a minimalist, robust cabin: a 5.3‑inch digital instrument cluster sits in the driver’s line of sight and a 13‑inch central touchscreen is fitted as standard to control navigation and vehicle functions.
Škoda will offer three interior design selections, all using seat upholstery made from 100% recycled textiles. The entry Studio trim is joined by Loft, available in grey or mint green, and the top Suite trim, which pairs embossed Suedia with Techtona synthetic leather in Tabora brown. Ambient lighting is included on Loft and Suite, and Techtona is introduced as a new dashboard and door‑panel material that serves as an alternative to traditional synthetic leather.
Mechanically, the Škoda Epiq rides on the new MEB+ chassis platform developed for small electric vehicles within the Volkswagen Group and configured for front‑wheel drive. Buyers can choose from three output levels of the APP290 electric motor, spanning 85 kW to 155 kW, and two battery sizes with gross capacities of 38.5 kWh and 55 kWh. The range‑topping Epiq 55 promises up to 430 kilometres on the WLTP cycle and supports DC fast charging at up to 133 kW.
Škoda says the Epiq’s chassis tuning and disc brakes on all wheels deliver driving characteristics that belie its compact footprint, while safety equipment brings features typically found in larger segments. Advanced driver‑assistance systems include Travel Assist 3.0, which reacts to traffic signs and lights, a panoramic camera system to aid parking, and up to nine airbags, including a central airbag between the front seats.
As Škoda moves to expand its electric lineup, the Epiq is presented as a cornerstone of the brand’s plan to double its fully electric portfolio by 2026. With a focus on accessible pricing, efficient packaging, and a suite of modern technologies, the Epiq aims to make electric driving more attainable for city buyers. Here are the basic Škoda Epiq specifications for each of the three models – Škoda Epiq 35, Škoda Epiq 40, and Škoda Epiq 55.
