It’s finally time to see what happened to various electric vehicles in the United States after the loss of the $7,500 EV tax credit, and we’re getting basically every kind of thing under the sun.
Cadillac EV sales actually rose year over year in the 4th quarter. Kia EV sales dropped by a bit more than 50%. Nissan EV sales absolutely crashed. Now we’ve got Volkswagen, and its results are mixed.

The Volkswagen ID.4 did not have a good 4th quarter. With just 248 sales, its numbers in the USA are negligible, and that was a 62% decline from the 4th quarter of 2024, when the company delivered 646 ID.4 electric crossovers. And this is a super far cry from the 12,470 units delivered in the 3rd quarter!
Across the full year, though, the ID.4 did see sales growth. It went from 17,021 sales in 2024 to 22,373 sales in 2025, 31.4% growth. That’s quite a good increase year over year for the US market.

The Volkswagen ID. Buzz actually did better year over year in the 4th quarter! It rose from 1,162 deliveries in the 4th quarter of 2024 to 1,206 deliveries in the 4th quarter of 2025. That’s 3.8% growth. Compared to the 4th quarter, when 2,469 vehicles were delivered, it’s just about a 50% drop. That’s a great result when you look at what’s been happening to other models. Perhaps it’s not the blockbuster mass-market model some of us hoped it would be, but it’s apparently got some resilience and perseverance in a harsh market due to its unique look and appeal.
Across the full year, the ID. Buzz rose from 1,162 sales to 6,140 sales. Could the model break 10,000 sales in 2026? Perhaps that’s fanciful and too optimistic, but I still love the electric van and believe in it a bit.
